Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic progressive inflammatory disease that mostly affects the weight-bearing joints. The condition usually affects the hands, feet, and wrists. In fact, Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) has many physical and social consequences. It can also cause lower quality of life. As an illustration, it does so in a way that can cause pain, disability, premature heart disease, and premature death. Avoid:

Products that cause allergic reactions. Thus some people with rheumatoid arthritis have found that their symptoms worsen after consuming certain foods.

Dairy products. Some people with rheumatoid arthritis develop antibodies to milk proteins. It can lead to inflammation.

Gluten (mostly from wheat). Many people with rheumatoid arthritis develop antibodies to gluten. It can lead to inflammation.

Can help:

Yogurt. Contains active cultures of beneficial bacteria. They can reduce the number of intestinal bacteria that produce toxins and thus contribute to the development of rheumatoid arthritis.

Omega-6 fatty acids. Excessive intake of omega-6 fatty acids can worsen rheumatoid arthritis. Despite being healthy too many of these substances are converted into substances that increase inflammation.

Meat. Excessive intake of meat can worsen the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. Many people’s condition has improved after switching to a vegetarian or vegan diet.

Saturated fats. In the USA, people consume many saturated fats excessively in their diet. They are associated with increased production of anti-inflammatory substances in the body.

Physical activity

It is necessary to adjust physical activity. All in all, people who suffered from rheumatoid arthritis are allowed to exercise. Light to moderate in accordance with the current state of the disease. If severe pain or additional joint swelling occurs, you should immediately stop exercising.

Allowed physical activities such as:

  • Walking
  • Wheel Driving
  • Swimming

When exercising, it is mandatory to adhere to some recommendations:

  • Exercise is allowed only when the signs of the disease are moderate,
  • When signs of inflammation and stiffness appear, rest is mandatory,
  • Every day you should rest for 1-2 hours,
  • You can exercise 15-20 minutes a day,
  • Static isometric strength exercises are recommended,
  • Passive stretching performed by another person 4-5 times a day, and
  • Excessive exercise of the inflamed joint will worsen the condition.
