Choosing an appropriate pair of cycling glasses can be a difficult task because there are so many brands and styles to choose from. The choice of cycling glasses depends on the type of cycling you practice.  it is not the same whether you drive in a mountainous area or on asphalt. It is good to choose polarized glasses or even better glasses whose lenses can be changed. Also, it is important that you choose frames that fit your face. It is uncomfortable and even dangerous if the glasses are too tight. This can really impede your vision and therefore increase the risk of accidents.

We recommend wrap-style frames to protect your eyes from wind and debris. There are even models that accommodate prescription lenses.

Different types of lenses

Generally, there are four different types of lenses

• Tinted. Tinted lenses provide a lot of UV protection. They make it very easy to see cracks in the asphalt or slippery sand in the corners.
Polarized. This can help with reducing glare and blocking out sunlight coming from behind. Polarized lenses increase contrast in an image, making it easier to see objects that are far away. They also reduce glare which makes them ideal for any activity that takes place outdoors.
Mirrored. Mirrored lenses offer the most protection against UV rays. Therefore these make you easier to spot.
Photochromic. Photochromic lenses adapt according to sunlight. The stronger the sunlight, the darker the lenses are, and vice versa. The downsides of the lenses are the shorter lifespan and rather a slow reaction time – for example when driving out of a tunnel.

The lens color affects how you see also. That’s why some models come with one or more different color lenses so you can swap to fine-tune your glasses to the conditions.

Lens Color

Brown and amber: Amber is popular for cycling, skiing, and general use. These are the best lens colors for high glare. They allow excellent contrast and their dark color minimizes eye strain. On the downside, amber distorts colors, making greens greener and causing neons to fade.
Green: Green reduces eye strain in bright conditions as well as provides a fair amount of contrast in low-light conditions.
Gray: This is a neutral color that provides natural contrast and gives true color perception.
Vermillon or rose Heightens visual acuity and enhances color while improving contrast.  Many people consider the rose soothing and comfortable over a long period of time.
Yellow: A long-time standard for skiing, yellow provides excellent depth perception and contrast in low light.

Whichever you choose, you won’t regret it. Enjoy the ride!
